Moira Youth FReeZA Committee

What is FReeZA?

Moira’s  FReeZA Committee is a group of local young people aged between 12-25 who plan and organise events for young people in Moira Shire.

FReeZA is a state Government initiatives that gives young people the opportunity to lead the planning and staging of events in their community. All FReeZA events are fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke free.

What does the FReeZA committee Do?

Throughout the program, the committee will have meetings on days and times as agreed upon by the committee.

The FReeZA Committee will be responsible for brainstorming and planning events, designing promotional material, sound and production, photography, managing budgets, contacting and booking suppliers and organising risk management procedures.

FReeZA events can be:

  • Music – Live Performance, Open Mic, Battle of the bands
  • Dance – DJ, Hip Hop
  • Recreation – Skate, BMX, Scooter
  • Festival – Community, Youth, Cultural
  • Youth Recognition – Award Night, Committee Celebration
  • Art – Exhibitions, Short Film, Theatre
  • Social – Pool Party, Outdoor Cinema

There will also be training and development opportunities such as event production, technical production, artistic (songwriting, photography, graphic design), and accredited training such as First Aid or Food Handling.

Each township (Nathalia, Numurkah, Cobram and Yarrawonga), will have it’s own FReeZA crew, who will organise events for their own town. FReeZA Committee members will also have the chance to work together on large events.
