Duck Season

The 2024 duck season commenced at 8am on Wednesday, 10 April 2024, and will conclude 30 minutes after sunset on Wednesday 5 June 2024.

During the season, wetlands or part of wetlands may be closed to duck hunting. These closures are implemented to protect rare or threatened species from disturbance or accidental shooting.

Further regulations may include restrictions on hunting times, equipment, and methods. Closure of hunting areas can be either partial or full, depending on the circumstances.

Throughout the duck season, wetlands are continuously monitored. If the conditions that necessitated closure or further regulation cease to exist, the affected wetlands may be reopened to hunting.
