Public Interest Disclosure Policy & Procedure

Policy 

The purpose of the policy is:

• to ensure there is an effective process for facilitating the receipt of protected disclosures, their assessment and notification; and

• to provide protection for those who make a disclosure and those who might be cooperating in a protected disclosure, consistent with Council’s obligations under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012 (Act) and the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission Act 2011 (IBAC Act).

Procedure 

The procedures bring into operation the requirements for Council under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012, and should be read in conjunction with Councils Public Interest Disclosure Policy, and the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission’s (IBAC’s) Guidelines for Handling Public Interest Disclosures and Guidelines for Public Interest Disclosure Welfare Management
