Batteries

Batteries and electronics, when put in kerbside bins, can cause fires, whether it be in trucks, landfill or a recycling facility. A small act, such as keeping your batteries out of your bins makes a big impact on Victoria's sustainable future.

Not only are batteries flammable and filled with corrosive and toxic acid, they also contain valuable metals.

Batteries should not be disposed of in your kerbside landfill or recycling bin.

Batteries, when recycled, are sorted by chemistry type. They are sent to the respective recyclers in Australia and overseas, where materials and resources such as cadmium, manganese, colbalt, lithium, nickel, silver oxide and zinc are recovered.

What happens to recycled batteries? We recycle our batteries through Ecobatt.
