Councillor Code of Conduct

As Councillors of the Moira Shire Council we are committed to working together in the best interests of the people within our community and to discharging our responsibilities to the best of our skill and judgement.

Our commitment to working together constructively will enable us to achieve the vision and mission of the Moira Shire Council in a manner that is consistent with our values. The Local Government Act 1989 (the Act) requires a Council to develop and maintain a Councillor Code of Conduct. The Councillor Code of Conduct is required to be periodically reviewed.

This Councillor Code of Conduct has been adopted by Council to comply with the requirements of the Act. This Councillor Code of Conduct includes an internal resolution procedure for dealing with any alleged contraventions of the Code. A Council can apply sanctions to a Councillor who has been found to have contravened the Councillor Code of Conduct.
