Moira Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from community organisations and not-for-profit groups for the future use of the former Yarrawonga Primary School.
Council is anticipating strong interest in the site’s redevelopment, due to its size, position and potential for ongoing community use.
The land at 2 Tom Street is still owned by the Victorian Government and, with its consent, Council is inviting submissions from interested organisations for the site’s future use. The site includes existing buildings and open space.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said proposals that deliver strong community outcomes, reflect local needs and respect the heritage of the site were welcome.
“Council is looking for proposals that create lasting benefit for the Yarrawonga community, with opportunities for sustainable use, cultural recognition and inclusive participation,” Dr Emonson said.
“We encourage creative and sustainable ideas that make long-term contributions to the Yarrawonga community.
“Council itself doesn’t have the financial capacity to acquire, upgrade and maintain the site, and therefore we’re looking for organisations to partner with who can contribute to the future revitalisation and repurposing of this important location and ensure that it serves a vital community purpose into the future.”
This is the second part of a two-stage Council EOI process to gauge third party interest in contributing to the refurbishment and redevelopment of the former Yarrawonga Primary School site, predominantly for community use.
The first stage of the EOI process, undertaken in July-August 2025, was a non-binding registration process which invited groups to register their interest and stay informed about the next stage of the process.
This EOI opens on Wednesday 25 November 2025 and will close on Friday 6 February 2026.
