Moira Shire Council has taken a leadership position after the request from the Winston Churchill Trust to make the community aware of the Churchill Fellowship program. This could include four to eight weeks to research, explore and develop a topic or issue that you are passionate about, and come back and share your knowledge for the benefit of Australia. Why not apply for a Churchill Fellowship?

Churchill Fellows have created some of the most well-known innovations, including Questacon, the Playschool Theme song, unit pricing in supermarkets, and Neighbourhood Watch, to name a few.

The Churchill Trust was set up in 1965 after the death of Sir Winston Churchill when the Australian public gave generously in what was one of the country’s largest ever doorknock appeals. The concept for the Churchill Fellowships, endorsed by Churchill before he died, was to provide a unique opportunity for Australians to travel, learn, and bring knowledge back to their country.

Since then, the Winston Churchill Trust has sent more than 4,600 Australians overseas to pursue their passion and bring what they learned back for the benefit of the community.

“The Churchill Fellowship program is not just about travel – it’s about exploration, discovery, and the pursuit of knowledge and innovation. It empowers individuals to venture beyond boundaries and contribute to a better world,” said Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator John Tanner AM.

“You don’t need to have a qualification to apply. You can do a Churchill Fellowship on any topic, provided there are benefits to Australia and your community. To be a Churchill Fellow is a recognisition of entrepreneurial leadership and passion – it can provide an opportunity for you to reach your goals.”

Applications for 2024 close on 1 May at 5pm. To find out more, please visit the Winston Churchill Trust website.
