Arts and culture boost for Moira Shire
Published on 28 May 2026
Moira Shire Council has endorsed the Moira Shire Arts and Culture Grants Program Draft Guidelines, marking an important step towards strengthening arts and cultural activity across the Shire.
Community members, creative organisations and cultural groups are invited to provide feedback before the guidelines return to Council for final consideration.
The guidelines have been developed to provide structured, transparent funding to eligible community organisations and individuals delivering arts and cultural initiatives, with the aim of strengthening arts and cultural activities, programs and infrastructure across the Shire.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said a thriving arts and cultural sector contributed to wellbeing, connection and a strong sense of place for our local community.
“We want to hear from community members, artists, cultural groups and anyone with a passion for creativity,” Dr Emonson said.
“We have an annual funding allocation for the arts and your feedback will help us build a grants program that truly reflects the diversity, identity and aspirations of people right across Moira Shire.”
Funding will be offered through two streams:
Stream 1: Creative Arts Triennial Funding – three-year funding for established organisations delivering sustained, place-based creative arts programs.
Stream 2: Arts and Culture Grant Funding – annual project-based funding for arts and cultural projects, events and activities.
These guidelines have been developed to support the Moira Shire Arts and Culture Strategy and provide a framework for application assessments, ensuring funded initiatives align with Moira Shire’s strategic priorities.
