Christies Road damaged by wet weather

With the recent extended period of wet weather, residents have been requested to take caution when using the council road network.

CEO Clare Keenan said while Council was committed to providing all weather access to residents on unsealed roads, there was a need to take care and drive to the conditions.

“Some of our unsealed road network has become slippery and there are patches with large potholes and corrugations which makes driving difficult,” Ms Keenan said.

“There are also reports of mud and slippery conditions on roads at stock crossings and we ask dairy farmers to monitor their crossings, particularly while these wet conditions continue.”

Ms Keenan said the wet weather was also affecting the sealed road network and potholes were starting to occur.

“These emerging potholes are being attended to however I urge residents to call us on 5871 9222 and report any dangerous road conditions,” she said.

“All available resources will be allocated to ensuring our road network will return to a safe and useable condition as soon as practical.

"In the meantime we are asking residents to be understanding of the situation as there are many roads affected by this adverse weather and it will take time.”

Ms Keenan said Council would deal with the problems on a prioritised and systematic basis.
