We are seeking two community individuals and one community organisation to join the Yarrawonga Library Project Steering Committee.

This Steering Committee, endorsed by Council at the August meeting, will help shape the next chapter in the development of a new Yarrawonga Library. In addition, the Steering Committee will be consulted with and provide feedback on the Yarrawonga Library Site Masterplan and Business Case.

The community individuals and organisation would be prepared to represent a diverse range of views and work with the community, consultants, Council Officers and Councillors in developing a new library that suits both current and future needs. They will also be required to consult with, inform and educate key stakeholders including local businesses, relevant user groups and the broader community as well as the Yarrawonga Town Hall Precinct and Library Project Community Reference Group about the benefits of a new library for the Yarrawonga community.

Mayor Libro Mustica said Council was keen to hear from community members and organisations who were interested in taking on this important role. “We have progressively been working towards building a new library in Yarrawonga for a number of years,” Cr Mustica said. “The current Yarrawonga Library is limited by space, constraining the ability to deliver various programs. “The Yarrawonga Town Hall Precinct, which includes the Town Hall, Community Hall and old Preschool buildings, has been evaluated to be the most suitable site for the purposes of a new library. “This presents a unique opportunity for renewal of the whole Precinct. “We aim to create a vibrant and diverse community hub including a library, Customer Service Centre, meeting spaces and a commercial kitchen in this Precinct. “The Yarrawonga Library Project Steering Committee will be central in shaping the progress of this once in a generation development opportunity.”
