Saputo is pleased to be a major funder for the development of the Cobram Community Soccer Precinct. Saputo’s contribution, together with that of the Moira Shire Council, the Federal Government and the Victorian Government will secure the much needed improved facilities for the Cobram community.

Members of the Moira Shire Council, Cobram Roar Football Club, representatives of Saputo Dairy Australia and the local dairy farming community gathered at Cobram Apex Park today to formally announce funding for the construction of the project.

Lino A. Saputo, Jr., Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Saputo Inc. said "We are delighted to be contributing to the wellbeing of the Cobram community by supporting the development of this sporting facility. We are constantly evaluating new projects to encourage residents of communities where we operate to adopt healthy lifestyles."

The new 664sq community pavilion will sit adjacent to the existing Cobram Stadium and provide facilities for both players and spectators. Comprising unisex, fully accessible change room facilities, administration facilities for game day officials, as well as improved playing surfaces, the project will allow for increased participation and usage all year.

Moira Shire Mayor Libro Mustica said Saputo’s support for this new development in Cobram was a wonderful contribution. "With 260 registered soccer players on AWFA match days, 290 Cobram Junior Soccer Association registered players and 80 plus volunteers there has been increasing demand for more space and better facilities for soccer in Cobram, "Cr Mustica said.

"I commend and thank Saputo for supporting such an important project in Cobram which will enhance the participation of sport for the whole region. This multi-use facility will cater to soccer, but also many other sports played at the precinct, including basketball, netball and cricket. "

As part of its commitment to be an engaged, responsible and leading corporate citizen, Saputo has established the Legacy Program – an initiative to invest in communities by helping fund the improvement of sport and health facilities.

Local projects, like the Cobram Community Soccer Pavilion, enable Saputo to carry out its efforts to encourage families to be physically active and make meaningful contributions in communities where employees work, play and call home. Since its launch, Saputo has contributed approximately $2.4 million toward 39 Legacy projects in Australia, Canada, the United States and Argentina.
