Moira Shire Council Mayor Libro Mustica and Councillors showed overwhelming support to approve a day in lieu for Council staff who were fully vaccinated.

“This day is a ‘thank you’ to those staff who have helped to safeguard our community,” Cr Mustica said.

“I have had my vaccination and I encourage the whole Moira community to do the same.

“It would be great if we could be the shire with the greatest number of people immunised.”

CEO Clare Keenan said the uptake of COVID-19 vaccinations by staff to date was very good.

“This update is indicative of the fact our staff are responsible people who care about others,” Ms Keenan said.

“Council provides a range of essential services, from school crossing guards to waste and facilities management, and maternal and child health services.

“Almost all staff engage with the public to some degree and as a major regional employer we want to lead the way in beating this pandemic.”

NCN Health has secured extra doses of the Pfizer vaccine to deliver over the next three weeks.

Due to this increase in supply, there are a significant number of Pfizer vaccination appointments available.

If you are aged between 40 – 59 years, are healthcare workers of any age, in a priority or high-risk group under 40 years of age, or are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander you are eligible for this vaccination.

Bookings can be made by phoning 5871 0950.
