Get prepared, get connected and get ready

Are you prepared for this fire season? What about dealing with floods and storms?
The Moira Ready Community Safety & Resilience Expo is here to help.
Moira Shire Council has joined with local emergency services, response agencies, support organisations and community groups to hold the Expo on Saturday 14 November.
The Expo can help you prepare before, during and after emergencies and natural disasters.
Learn practical ways to protect your family, pets, property, business and community while building your emergency preparedness plan.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said one of the lessons learned from recent emergencies – the 2022 floods and the January 2026 grassfire – was the importance of being prepared before disaster strikes.
“As we support our community to recover, we want to boost everyone’s resilience and capacity to cope with whatever nature throws at us next,” Dr Emonson said.
“This Expo will help you do that. I encourage families, individuals, farmers and business owners to come along and learn how to keep themselves and their community safe.”
The Moira Ready Community Safety & Resilience Expo will be held at Federation Park in Cobram, from 9am to 3pm on Saturday 14 November.
There’s plenty on offer for the whole family, all at no cost. The first 200 visitors will receive a free show bag, the first 100 visitors will enjoy a free coffee, and lunch is free for all visitors. There will be lots of fun activities for the kids, including face painting.
“Emergencies don’t come with a warning, but being prepared can make all the difference,” Dr Emonson said.
“As well as this Expo, Moira Shire’s online Emergency Dashboard is a valuable resource to help the community stay informed and prepared.”
The Emergency Dashboard at https://www.moira.vic.gov.au/ has information on fires, floods, road closures, power outages, weather warnings and more, from trusted agencies and service providers including CFA, SES Victoria, VicEmergency, VicTraffic and the Bureau of Meteorology.
In an emergency, always refer to the VicEmergency app and your local ABC radio station. If you are in immediate danger, always call Triple Zero (000).
