Moira Shire Council has opened applications for the 2025/26 Community Strengthening Grants round, with up to $10,000 available to support community organisations across the Shire.
Applications will close on Monday 15 September 2025.
The grants are designed to strengthen community involvement by supporting organisations to develop services, manage facilities, coordinate events and promote tourism, environmental sustainability and health.
Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said the grants program plays an important role in supporting local community organisations.
"Community organisations are vital to what makes Moira Shire a great place to live," Dr Emonson said.
"These grants help support projects that bring people together, improve our local environment and promote health and wellbeing across our communities."
The grants support projects across seven categories:
- Arts and Culture
- Community Events
- Equipment
- Environmental Sustainability
- Health Promotion
- Tourism (must attract visitors from outside the Shire)
- Other community projects
Previous grants have supported diverse projects across the Shire including:
- Yarrawonga Yacht Club - new kitchen cupboards installation
- Katamatite Cricket Club - pitch covers and heat mat purchase
- Allegro Theatre Company - Theatre Drama Workshop program
- Lions Club Katamatite - permanent fencing installation at Katamatite Silos
- Numurkah Yarners Craft Fellowship Club - Christmas yarn bombing project
To be eligible, organisations must be incorporated not-for-profit groups with membership open to Moira Shire residents, or unincorporated entities registered with national statutory regulators.
