Council has responsibility as a Naming Authority under the Geographic Place Names Act 1998 for naming of public roads, features and localities in the Moira Shire municipal district and is committed to ensuring that names and naming processes comply with the State Government's Naming Rules for Places in Victoria.
A draft Geographic Naming Policy has been developed to:
- support Council in implementing the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria;
- ensure a consistent approach to the naming of roads, features and localities where Council is a Naming Authority; and
- clarify the responsibilities in the process for applicants, developers and Council.
