Australia Day Awards

Nominations for the 2023 Australia Day Awards are now open for individuals or organisations that have endeavoured to enhance and provide for their local community and instil a sense of community spirit and awareness.
Nominees who are Australian citizens and have made a significant voluntary contribution during 2022, or who have given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years are eligible.
But it’s not just individual people who can be nominated.
A project or event that a school, community group or organisation has held which went that extra mile to help their local area can also be nominated.
The 2023 Australia Day Awards recognise the exceptional contribution of the people and groups in their individual communities who inspire us all.

There are six award categories
  • Citizen of the Year
  • Junior Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Community Organisation of the Year
  • Arts, Culture and/or Environment Project of the Year.
These nominations will be considered for the individual town ceremonies to be held on Australia Day 2023.

There is also an option in the submission form for the nominations to go towards the Moira Shire Achievement Awards, to be held in April next year.

Nominations for the 2023 Australia Day Awards close Wednesday 30 November 2022.
If you require access to a computer, libraries and community houses across the shire have computers available for public use, by appointment.
