Community Leadership Program

The Moira Shire Community Leadership Program empowers emerging and existing leaders to actively shape the future of our community.

Originally created through the Community Recovery Hubs Program following the October 2022 flood events, the program began by strengthening resilience during times of crisis. Today, it builds on that foundation to develop leadership capability across Moira Shire’s community groups, organisations, and local government.

Open to residents aged 18 and over, this free program offers participants the chance to build confidence, develop leadership skills in governance, strategy, policy, and public speaking, and strengthen leadership values such as integrity, service, accountability, inclusion, and collaboration. Participants also build valuable networks with like-minded people passionate about making a difference.

Leadership starts here. No matter your background — if you care about your community, this program is for you.

Council encourages participants to engage with a mentor, providing guidance and support to help leaders grow and succeed.
