Over the next two months, Moira Shire Council will be engaging with our local community to develop a long term community vision.

Mayor Libro Mustica said this vision would be different from the four year Council Plan as it would be the community creating this document which would depict their thoughts, aspirations and priorities for life in Moira Shire.

“This is not a Council vision, it is a community vision,” Cr Mustica said.

“It will help shape and inform the work that Council does over the next 10 or more years.

“We want to hear from all members of our community – young, old and in between.

“If you live, work or study in the shire, we want your feedback.”

Cr Mustica said there were a number of ways to capture your ideas.

“A survey is currently live on our website and will remain open until Wednesday 14 July,” he said.

“There are prizes to be won as an incentive for people to get involved, so please take this opportunity to have your say.

“We are also calling for interested people to register to be part of our community panel.

“This panel will comprise a diverse group of community representatives who will come together over the weekend of 31 July and 1 August to participate in a workshop run by an independent facilitator.

“This panel will have meaningful discussions on some of the issues raised in the survey as well as expanding on key community-orientated themes.”

School students would also have the opportunity to contribute with targeted projects aimed at both primary and secondary students.

“Primary students will be asked to write a postcard from the future and secondary students will put their journalistic skills to the test with a newspaper clipping,” Cr Mustica said.

“Keep an eye out on our social media pages or go to our website for all the details on how to get involved.”
