What types of development does this service cover?
myLot covers a variety of services and is best suited for residential developments where the land is zoned residential, such as swimming pools and domestic sheds. The service is not suitable for more complex proposals such as subdivisions and large multi-unit developments. It does not cover questions related to:
-
Covenants, 173 agreements, Easements and other restrictions found on the property title and plans
-
Previous or existing planning permits, or existing uses.
-
Public Land Zones and Special Purpose Zones
-
Other approvals that may be required, such as building permits
Please contact the Statutory Planning Team or a private planning consultant to discuss these types of proposals.
Can I use this service for a property I’m looking to purchase?
Yes. You can enquire about any address in a residential, industrial, commercial or rural zone within the Moira Shire local government area.
What if I don’t know or have changed my mind about the details of my project?
That’s okay! The service can provide guidance based on the information you do have. If there are details you’re unsure about, you can always come back and explore different options using the service to better understand the planning implications.
Will I get a definitive answer from this service?
The advice from this service is based on an analysis of the planning legislation relevant to your site and proposal. It cites the specific rules and clauses that it bases its interpretations on. However, as it cannot yet access certain property-specific data, its advice should be taken as guidance rather than a definitive answer.
Does the advice provided by myLot represent a planning decision?
No. The information provided by myLot is intended as a general guide only and does not constitute a final planning decision. The service offers advice based on the information you provide and its interpretation of the planning controls. It may not always be accurate. Therefore, the advice should be reviewed by a Council or private planner before proceeding, even if the proposal appears straightforward.
Can I get a planner to verify the answers provided by this service?
Yes. You can book a pre-application meeting with a planner to discuss your proposal or request formal written planning advice to verify the answers provided.
You can speak with a Planner on duty by calling (03) 5871 9222. Alternatively, you can complete the questionnaire available at the link here and email it to info@moira.vic.gov.au. Once received, one of our friendly Planners will contact you within five business days.
