New RV friendly site confirmed for Picola

Tourists to Moira Shire’s western region will have a new accommodation option with the introduction of a new Recreational Vehicle (RV) site in Picola.
Moira Shire Council has approved a new three-vehicle site for overnight parking for fully self- contained RVs for up to 48 hours on the grassed area next to the Picola Public Hall.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said feedback from other towns with RV sites had shown a very positive economic impact.
“Moira Shire has a lot to offer travellers, and this new RV site will encourage more people to come and explore the area, and discover our wonderful cafes, dining options and tourist attractions,” he said.
“This is a great way to welcome a new cohort of travellers to the area and will provide a welcome boost for local tourism.”
Picola Hall Friends of Group’s Jeanette Holland said it was great to welcome a new place to stop for people visiting the Picola area.
“An overnight stay in the restful Picola RV Park will give you a chance to enjoy the silo art, a drink or meal at the Picola Café/Hotel, and watch for the new development coming soon to the Heritage Park, all within walking distance of your van.”
“This is a great idea, and will help progress the town forward,” Picola Hotel Manager Amy Street said.
Nathalia Barmah Business and Tourism Chairperson Roland Huber said the group was thrilled to see Picola join the list of RV-friendly locations.
“This initiative aligns perfectly with Nathalia Barmah Business and Tourism’s mission to support our regional businesses and promote the Nathalia and Barmah region. Welcoming RV travellers to Picola will not only showcase the charm of our community but also bring valuable economic opportunities to the region. We fully endorse this development and look forward to seeing Picola thrive as part of Moira Shire’s growing RV tourism network.”
Developing new RV Friendly towns in Moira Shire is part of Council’s Recreational Vehicle Friendly Strategy, Tourism Plan and Economic Development Strategy to help boost tourism and economic development by attracting more travellers.
Council will promote the new site through its website, social media channels and through its tourism information and visitor information services programs, as well as through RV-specific publications and websites.
