Moira’s youth to bring the festival to Federation Park

Federation Park in Cobram is set to come alive in the September school holidays for Youth Fest 2025, a free, youth-led festival featuring live music, arts and activities.

Youth Fest is for people in Moira Shire aged 12-24 years, and will be held on Sunday September 21 from 11am to 4pm.

Developed in partnership with the Moira Youth Council and supported by funding through the Amplify program, the festival represents a genuine collaboration between Council and young community members to create an event that reflects their interests, needs, and creative energy.

The free, inclusive event will feature live music, games, art workshops, and food stalls, alongside local community organisations and service providers. It will showcase young artists from Moira Shire, with everyone encouraged to come along and support emerging local talent.

Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson said the event would be a celebration of Moira’s youth.

“Youth Fest is the vision of a group of passionate young people who want to create great experiences for people in our region,” Dr Emonson said.

“When young people feel heard, valued, and engaged, it benefits everyone. We're incredibly proud of our Youth Council's leadership in making this event a reality.”

Moira Youth Council Mayor Elly Slatterie said the event was the result of months of planning designed to engage and celebrate Moira’s young people.

“We wanted to ensure young people had a real voice in shaping an event in their community, and to make sure Youth Fest reflected what young people wanted to see in their region, and what they are passionate about,” she said.

“Having a free local event for local youth is really important, and we wanted to give people an opportunity to have fun, try something new, and learn more about our community in a safe and fun way.

“We want everyone to come along and enjoy what Youth Fest has to offer – there’s something for everyone.”

Moira Youth Fest follows two youth music events held in Yarrawonga earlier this year, with a skate event to be held in Numurkah in October.
