Moira Shire has welcomed 28 new Australian citizens at a ceremony held at the Cobram Civic Centre on Thursday 7 May.
Twenty-four adults and four children from 11 different nations gained citizenship at Thursday's ceremony.
Moira’s newest citizens are from Nepal, Philippines, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, India, Thailand, Fiji, Poland, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM congratulated the new citizens and welcomed them to Moira Shire during the ceremony.
"Today is a proud moment – not just for our 28 newest citizens, but for the entire Moira Shire community," Dr Emonson said.
"Each person here has chosen Australia, and chosen Moira, as the place they want to build their life. That means a great deal to us.”
"Our community is stronger because of the rich and diverse cultures, languages and traditions our residents bring with them.”
"To our newest citizens – we encourage you to get involved, share your talents and make your mark. Moira Shire is a better place with you in it."
