Community urged to share their feedback on Numurkah public holiday
Published on 06 June 2025
Moira Shire Council is inviting the Numurkah community to have their say on a proposal for a substituted public holiday for the Numurkah Agricultural Show.
For the past 14 years, a substituted full day public holiday has been in place to support this much- loved local event. As Council begins planning for October 2025, we want to ensure this arrangement still reflects the needs and preferences of our community.
Council’s Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson said it was important to hear from the community.
“The Numurkah Show is a significant tradition for many local families and community groups. In considering to grant a substituted public holiday for the 2025 Show, it is good practice that we check in with the community,” Dr Emonson said.
“Whether you support the continuation of the current arrangement or think it’s time for a change, we want to hear from you.”
Community members can share their views through an online survey available on Council’s Moira Matters website. Council will also be engaging directly with local businesses and service providers in the coming weeks.
Feedback gathered during this consultation will help inform Council’s recommendation for the requested 2025 public holiday.
“This is your opportunity to help shape a decision that affects your community. Please take a few minutes to have your say,” Dr Emonson said.
Consultation will close on Friday 27 June 2025.
