Moira Shire Council is proud to participate in Plastic Free July, with prizes on offer for community members who join this initiative.

Mayor Libro Mustica said being a part of Plastic Free July was just one of many ways Council reduced its impact on the environment.

“We always try to put environmental sustainability first at Moira Shire, and this July we will focus on reducing our usage of single use plastics, and encourage our community to do the same,” Cr Mustica said.

“Reducing waste by using reusable coffee cups, refusing plastic straws and using cloth shopping bags are just some of the easy ways you can reduce waste.”

Cr Mustica said there were three prizes up for grabs for community members who also join the fight against waste. “We have on offer three plastic-free living starter packs, all you need to do is fill in the registration on our website to go in the draw,” he said.

“You can choose to swap out one single use plastic this July with a more sustainable option, or push yourself to try and avoid plastics altogether.

“There is also an option to form a group and take the challenge as a team.

“This could be the start of a life-changing experience for you, your family, your colleagues or even your local school.
