Calling for feedback on draft Economic Development Strategy

Council approved the draft Economic Development Strategy to go out for public feedback at the June ordinary meeting.

Mayor Libro Mustica said the draft strategy would guide Council’s strategic direction, decision making and service delivery into the future.

"The draft strategy builds on the existing strengths of the local economy while seeking to embrace new opportunities that create diversity and resilience and we want to know if we have go the balance right," Cr Mustica said.

"We have focussed the draft strategy around five key priorities.

"Priority 1 is enhancing infrastructure and land which are fundamental for economic activity to prosper in Moira Shire.

"Priority 2 is providing information, learning and networking to enable a strong economy.

"Priority 3 is encouraging growth, diversification and innovation to build resilience in our economy.

"Priority 4 is fostering the visitor economy to identify tourism infrastructure gaps and attract investment.

"Lastly, Priority 5 is making great places for people with place-making programs playing a vital role in promoting economic development."

Drop in sessions are being held across the shire to discuss council’s draft Economic Development Strategy 2019-23.

• Nathalia – Barmah Forest Heritage & Education Centre – Thursday 18 July – 11am-12noon

• Numurkah – Visitor Information Centre – Thursday 18 July – 1pm-2pm

• Yarrawonga – Visitor Information Centre – Friday 19 July – 11am-12noon

• Cobram – Visitor Information Centre – Friday 19 July – 1pm-2pm
