Moira businesses are invited to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the manufacturing sector at a special breakfast event in July.

Hosted by Moira Shire Council in partnership with RMIT University and JBS Australia, this event will showcase how artificial intelligence is transforming the manufacturing sector—boosting productivity, enhancing safety, and driving innovation.

Attendees will hear from leading AI experts Professor Xiaodong Li and Associate Professor Ben Cheng from RMIT University, who will demystify AI and share real-world applications already making an impact in industry. Anil Giri from JBS Australia will also present on cutting-edge AI-driven solutions in livestock handling, staff wellbeing, and product security.

Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said the event would equip local businesses with the knowledge and tools to navigate the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

“Artificial intelligence is no longer a concept of the future—it’s here, and it’s reshaping how we work and compete across all sectors,” Dr Emonson said.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for our local manufacturers and business leaders to learn from experts and see firsthand how AI can drive innovation and sustainability in regional industries.”

“Moira Shire is committed to supporting forward-thinking initiatives that strengthen our economy and build resilience in our business community. We encourage all local businesses to attend and be part of this important conversation.”

There is also an opportunity after the breakfast to meet with RMIT’s Research Partnerships Managers to explore collaboration possibilities and innovative partnerships.
