We asked Councillor Peter Mansfield the following:
1. What is your connection to Moira?
I am one of the original baby boomers and was born and raised in Yarrawonga. I have always called Yarrawonga home. I was fortunate enough to have local employment with Telstra that allowed me to work both locally and all over the state.
2. What do you think is the greatest strength of the Moira Community?
Our people are our greatest strength, their community spirit, volunteerism are what makes our community great. We are very lucky to have a community that has so many obliging and friendly residents.
3. What made you decide to run for Council?
I believe l can make a difference to the community of Moira, to make our shire a greater place to live. I am passionate about getting infrastructure projects up and going, for the community to benefit. I’m also very passionate about our river systems to ensure we all benefit from the social, environmental and economic impacts the river provides us.
4. What do you hope to achieve in your term as a Moira Shire Councillor?
I want to continue improving our good governance to ensure transparency with decision making.
5. What is your favourite thing to do in Moira?
My favourite pastime is spending time on our magnificent river and lake, whether it be camping, fishing or even a picnic, l love being able to share it with my children and great grandchildren.
