Community organisations across Moira Shire were encouraged to apply for a grant from Council’s Festive Fund, which is has now closed.

Mayor Libro Mustica said this funding would assist in decorating towns leading up to Christmas or even to hold an event to celebrate the festive season.

“There are three components to the Moira Festive Fund,” Cr Mustica said.

“Up to $1,000 will be made available to organisations in small towns and up to $2,000 in the four main towns to decorate or run an event; there will also be up to $1,000 to celebrate a culturally significant day.”

This funding can be used in various ways including the purchase and installation of decorations; signage, banners and flags; hire of equipment; purchase of goods and services to hold an event; entertainment including music and lighting; promotions; and signage.

Cr Mustica said it was important to note there would only be one successful application per component, per town.

“The overall purpose of this Festive Fund is to empower the towns of Moira Shire to take ownership of the presentation of their town in the festive season,” he said.

“It will also assist our communities to reconnect and enjoy the festive season plus provide opportunities to celebrate and recognise other culturally significant days in our communities.”

Applications closed Friday 4 November 2022.
