Moira Shire Council is continuing to assist food, public health and accommodation businesses during this difficult period.

Mayor Libro Mustica said he understood this was a stressful time for businesses and the community.

“We would like to reassure everyone that our Environmental Health officers are remaining active with managing any public health risks,” Cr Mustica said.

“Our officers are providing advice on implementing good hygiene practices for businesses wishing to transition from eat-in to take away food establishments.”

Cr Mustica said Council was also providing communications to all food, public health and accommodation businesses about announcements and directions made by the Victorian Government that impacted on their business operations.

“Our Environmental Health team continue to deliver other crucial public health services including food safety and public health matters, food sampling, food recalls, domestic wastewater management and investigations of foodborne and infectious disease outbreaks,” he said.

“We are urging all businesses and the community at large to continue taking action to reduce the risk of infection and spread of COVID-19 by following the Department of Health and Human Services guidelines of physical distancing and regular washing of hands.”

Concerns about restrictions and requirements introduced by the VictorianGovernment to combat the spread of COVID-19 including suspected exposure to the virus, self-isolation requirements, physical distancing and transmission control measures should be directed to the Department of Health and Human Services’ dedicated COVID-19 hotline on 1800 675 398.

“Concerns about food safety or public health should be reported to Moira Shire Council for investigation by our Environmental Health Officers,” Cr Mustica said.
