Changes to Councils Services during the current flood emergency

Nathalia Flood Recovery Hub
Moira Shire Council has set up a Flood Recovery Hub at the Nathalia Community House, 17 Harcourt Street Nathalia.
You can drop into the Hub on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9.30am – 12.00noon and 1.00pm – 3.00pm.
The hub will provide information and support to community members impacted by the recent flood event.
Assistance is available from a range of service providers and will have representatives from State and Commonwealth Government agencies who can provide support with accessing financial assistance. These may vary each day but generally include the following:
- Rural & Small Business Financial Counselling / Agbiz Assist
- Services Australia
- Salvos
- Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH)
- Insurance Council
The Emergency Relief Centre at 42 Robertson Street, Nathalia is now closed.
Cancellation of October Scheduled Council Meeting
Due to the flood emergency, the Scheduled Council Meeting which was to be held on 26 October 2022 will be cancelled. All items which were due to be considered in this meeting will be deferred to the Scheduled Council Meeting to be held on 23 November 2022.
Maternal and Child Health
Maternal and Child Health services continue to offer centre visits and are conducting home visits to families with new babies and Enhanced Maternal and Child Health clients within town boundaries, where possible. Where there are access problems, arrangements are made to reschedule to telehealth appointments.
Immunisation appointments are confirmed a few days before, so an adjustment can be made if the situation changes.
We will keep the situation under review and will provide further updates, as required.
Transfer Stations – 2 Temporary Closures
Due to weather and road conditions the Transfer Stations at Nathalia and Barmah are closed for now.

Flood Waste to Cobram Landfill
The Premier has announced that the Government will fund disposal of flood waste at landfills.
While Moira Shire Council is able to accept most flood waste, due to licence conditions placed on us by regulatory authorities, there are some materials that cannot be accepted at the Cobram landfill. As a result of this, during the current flood emergency Greater Shepparton Council has agreed to assist in the disposal of those items that Moira Shire is unable to accept. Hazardous waste such as deceased livestock or asbestos are required to be handled in a specific manner and the correct process followed for reporting and disposal. We are most grateful to Greater Shepparton Council for their offer of assistance to dispose of these particular wastes, if required.
Please contact to Council prior to attending any site for disposal of flood waste and staff will assist in any queries to ensure safe and correct procedures are followed. As directed by the state government, when disposing of flood waste at the Cobram landfill or transfer stations, you will need to provide proof of residence in a declared flood affected local government area, such as a rates notice or driver licence.
School Crossing Supervisors
School crossing supervisors continue on their rosters as normal, but where they are unavailable, Council will advise schools and they will need to make their own arrangements during this flood emergency period. Council staff are required to support the Emergency Relief Centre.
