Moira Shire Council provides and maintains a number of public parks, reserves, and playgrounds across the municipality that can be used for activities and events some of which include Cobram, Nathalia, Numurkah & Yarrawonga

Amenities and equipment vary from site to site and can include playgrounds, seating, tables, and shelters, public toilets, BBQ's, walking tracks and other public facilities.

COBRAM

Federation Park

Federation Park.jpg Federation Park Cobram is located in Punt Road Cobram and shares its location with a number of free attractions, making the park super special and guaranteed to have something for everyone.

Bring the kids down, have a blast trying out the Cobram Community Skate Park, wander through the Historic Cobram Log Cabin, and read about its history.

Kennedy Park & Thompsons Beach

Thompsons-Beach-1.jpg Kennedy Park and one of Australia’s largest inland beach, Thompson’s Beach is located on Rockarama Road and only a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Cobram. Shaded by magnificent towering river red gums and floodlit in the evenings, Kennedy Park and Thompson’s Beach is popular for weddings, receptions and other events.  There is also a boat ramp where you can launch your boat or jet ski into the Murray river.

Mivo Park

Mivo-Park.jpeg Mivo Park is ideally located on Punt Rd close to the centre of town, with large shady trees, lush green grass, shaded and unshaded seating. It also offers securely fenced and shaded children’s play area that includes slides, tunnels, a fireman's pole, flying fox, a balance beam and more.

The picturesque Don Campbell Rose Garden is also within a well-maintained public park in the centre of Cobram.

NATHALIA

Nathalia Apex Park

Nathalia Anniversary Park

Nathalia-Water-Tower-Park.2.jpg The Nathalia and District Lions Park (also known as the town's water tower park) located on Blake St Nathalia has a lot more to offer then first meets the eye. The park has a monument dedicated to 'The Sleeper Cutter’, which commemorates the skill, strength and bush craft of the broad-axe sleeper cutter of the Barmah Forest and District. The park also displays Nathalia and District Lions Club Member 'In Memory Of' plaques and an 'Australia Remembers - In Honour of' plaque and boulder dedicated to the men and women who served Australia in time of conflict during World War II. Known for housing the town's water tower, the park also has an information board, public toilets, four separate seating areas, plenty of trees for shade and parking for large vehicles and trucks. To top it off right opposite the park is the Parks Victoria Nathalia Office, Library and the Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre and Visitor Information Centre.

Uncle Bobs Park

nathalia-uncle-bobs-park.jpg Uncle Bob's Park, Nathalia, is located over the Cemetery Bridge heading east on Pearce Street Nathalia. It offers a great place for families to relax and enjoy a BBQ lunch or just a quiet getaway from the centre of town. An all abilities fishing platform was erected in 2017, allowing everyone to get up and close with the Broken Creek. A toilet block and a fenced children's playground are also on site. It offers a great grassed area with ample parking.

NUMURKAH

Boulevard Park

Boulevard-Park-Skate-Park.jpg On the banks of the Broken Creek on Tunnock Road Numurkah is where you will find Boulevard Park as it follows the creek to the show grounds. On the western end, there is a Skate park to test your skills.

Louis Hamon Park

Numurkah-Louis-Hamon-Park-Rose.jpeg Louis Hamon Rose Gardens located by the Broken Creek on Melville street Numurkah. These beautiful gardens are well maintained and the coloured water fountain provides a stunning outlook, especially at night time.

Newman Square

Numurkah-Newman-Square.jpg Newman square is right in the heart of Numurkah on Melville Street, offering a large undercover gazebo surrounded by lush green grass with toilets close by.

Rotary Park (Train Park)

Numurkah-Train.jpg Rotary Park fondly called “The Train Park" is on the south west edge of town on Melville Street along the banks of the Boosey Creek. The park includes the Apex memorial wall, numerous vintage tractors and train, a BBQ and shelter

YARRAWONGA

Frank Keenan Reserve (Yarrawonga Yacht Club)

frank-keenan-playground-bbq.jpeg The Frank Keenan reserve located on River Road and is a very popular spot for weddings, as it has a great outlook over Lake Mulwala. It has toilets, undercover BBQ areas, children’s play equipment all surrounded by lush green open space. With Chinaman’s, Island only a short walk away along the walking track.

Rowing Club

Yarrawonga-Rowing-Club.jpg The Yarrawonga Rowing Club reserve is another popular venue for weddings as the grounds look out over Lake Mulwala located on Botts Road. The Rowing Club Rooms are available for hire through the local rowing club.

Yarrawonga Foreshore & WJ Ryan Reserve

The foreshore offers a summer splash park, an undercover playground, rotunda, kiosk and toilets, grassy areas. With plenty of shade on those hot days, a skate park and a walking track that continues around the lake

Hamon Park

Hammon-Park.jpg Hamon Park is a quiet little park on the edge of town located on Ely Street. The park has toilets, a BBQ shelter, children’s play area, lots of shade and plenty of parking. Ideally suited for small gatherings.  

Kennedy Park

Kennedy-Park-Playground-2.jpg Kennedy Park ideally located on Lynch Street only a block away from both the main street and the foreshore. The park offers the perfect place to hold markets and fundraisers as well as outside social gatherings. There is a secure fully fenced children’s play area and public toilets with park benches scattered around the park. Security Bond:

A fully refundable security bond is payable for all medium or high risk events, prior to the event taking place. Bonds will be invoiced along with any fees payable on the receipt of your application. Security bonds are fully refundable at the conclusion of the event once a post event inspection has been carried out by Council and is found satisfactory and paid via EFT transfer.

* The final fees and the amount of security bond payable may vary and exceed the amounts shown depending on the specific event circumstances at Council's discretion based on the level of risk to public property. Major events and events that require exclusive use are likely to attract higher fees and security bond.

 

Definitions

Structures

Structure that requires staking, such as shade sails, tents, jumping castles, play and ride equipment etc.

 

Community Group

Register Services Club, Emergency Services, Other Government Agencies, Charities, Community Groups, Tourism Boards, Chambers of Commerce, Development Committees, etc.

 

Incorporated Groups

Those groups registered as an incorporated association such as sporting clubs and others.

 

Low Risk

Events that do not involve any significant crowds, staked structures, vehicle access or any significant risk to public property or safety.

 

Medium Risk

Events designed to attract participants & crowds less than 200, involve staked structures, vehicle access or any significant risk to public property and safety.

 

High Risk

Events designed to attract participants & crowds of more than 200 and involve staked structures, vehicle access or any significant risk to public property and safety.

 

Major Event

Major events and events that require exclusive use are likely to attract higher fees and security bond. Major events designed to attract larger crowds and include staked structures, road closures, Place of Public Entertainment permits (PoPE), vehicle access or any significant risk to public property and safety.
