Citizen of the Year 2020 - Michael Coates

Michael has lived in Katamatite for more than 25 years. Michael has always been involved in community organisations and supported the Katamatite district. Michael has been involved in the local football club, Lions Club, indoor bowls, cricket club, and Cemetery Trust just to name a few. He has always shown leadership and has been such a hard worker in all activities. Michael was recently awarded the Honour of Life Membership with the local football club.

Young Citizen of the Year 2020 - Dylan Sidebottom

Dylan has grown up in the Tungamah area and been a part of community activities from a young age. Dylan has had involvement in his local sporting clubs, CFA, Good Friday appeal and school activities. Dylan is a very well-mannered, polite young man who is well known in the community and is always happy to help whoever needs it. Dylan’s involvement in his local football club does not stop at a player level, he umpires for the under 14s and runs water for the senior football teams. Dylan is also involved in the Tungamah bowls club as a player in the pennate team.

Organisation of the Year 2020 - Boomerang Bags Cobram Barooga

Boomerang Bags Cobram Barooga began in 2016 as a group of volunteers making re-usable shopping bags from upcycled donated fabric for public use to help reduce the impact plastic bags are having on our environment.  They hold a monthly bag making bee to cut, sew, iron and fold the bags which involves around 30 volunteers.  Bag making bees are held on a Sunday at Cobram Community House, an important supporter of the group.

Event of the Year 2020 - Easter Tournament Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club

Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club is a small community tennis club that provides a family environment for many people to enjoy the social and competitive aspects of tennis. They provide opportunities for all ages, including junior development, coaching, social men’s & women’s competitions day and night, a strong senior’s competition as well as teams entered into pennant and district sides.
