Health businesses including hairdressers, beauty salons, tattooists, ear-piercing, colonic irrigation and any other business involving skin penetration activities must be registered with their local council in accordance with the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 and the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019.

If you are opening, buying or selling a health premises, you will be required to complete one of our application forms and may be required to obtain a permit. Please see below for further information.

Permits

Permits may also be required from our Planning and Building Department's, depending on the type of business and changes you might be making. It is the applicants responsibility to ensure all appropriate permits have been sought.

Fees

All health premises fees are available upon application. Transfer of fees are 50% of the annual registration fee.

Pre-purchase inspections are charged at 50% of the annual registration fee. For more information please contact Council.
