A Dairy Information and Referral Centre will open at the Numurkah Visitor Information Centre this week.
Moira Shire Council General Manager Leanne Mulcahy said Council, Numurkah District Health Service and Murray Dairy are working together to help link dairy farmers with a range of financial, physical and mental health and farm and business advisory service providers.
“No appointment is required and we encourage our local farmers to drop in to learn more about the services, assistance and support that’s available to them. Our staff can even contact the professional service providers to arrange appointments and referrals.
“The dairy sector plays an integral role within Moira’s economy and our dairy farmers make a tremendous contribution to our communities.”
“Recent floods and uncertainty about future prices have created real challenges for the sector. Our referral centre is a practical way we can make it easier for local farmers to access the range of services that are available,” said Ms Mulcahy.
The Dairy Information and Referral Centre is located inside the Numurkah Visitor Information Centre at 99 Melville St Numurkah (the main street).
The Centre’s operating hours are 10am to 3pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday excluding public holidays. The Centre can be contacted during operating hours on 5862 1733.
