Yarrawonga wetlands temporary closure
Publish Date: 16/02/2017
Essential maintenance and improvement works at the Yarrawonga Wetlands are scheduled to begin this week.
To ensure public and staff safety while the works are underway, access to the wetlands and the surrounding walking tracks will be closed until late April.
Moira Shire Council General Manager Infrastructure Andrew Close said the first stage of the project involves desilting and concreting the existing open channel outfall and upgrade of the pedestrian bridges and walkways. The works extend from the Wetland north to Lakeview Circuit road.
"Once these works are complete we will see improved flows from the Wetlands to Lakeview Circuit road and we can reopen all pedestrian access ways."
This work will reduce Council’s ongoing maintenance of the area.
"The works are scheduled to be completed in April weather permitting.
"We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. We will be working hard to reopen the wetlands as quickly as possible and we will keep you posted with updates through local media and social media," said Mr Close.
