Special Council Meeting - 11 July
Publish Date: 01/07/2016
Moira Shire Council has called a Special Meeting of Council for Monday 11 July commencing at 5pm to consider the planning permit application for the Use and Development of Land for a Drug and Alcohol Centre at 104 Watters Road, Numurkah.
Moira Shire CEO Mark Henderson said the motion to approve the application was considered at the June Council meeting. The motion was lost and so without a resolution to refuse the application or to approve an amended motion Council hasn’t decided the matter.
“All Councils have an obligation to decide planning applications in a timely manner – failure to do so can be grounds for a VCAT appeal by an applicant,” said Mr Henderson.
“To decide on a planning permit Council has to pass a resolution to approve or to refuse the application.
“With some Councillors on leave for the July Ordinary meeting, Council will bring the matter forward to an 11 July Special Meeting rather than wait until the next ordinary meeting, scheduled for 25 July.”
The Special Meeting will be held at the President’s Room, Numurkah Visitor Information Centre and will commence at 5pm.
Members of the community are welcome to attend and observe the meeting.
A copy of the agenda is available on Council's website.
