Moira makes a splash this summer

Moira is the must visit destination for water based activities this summer according to Moira Shire Mayor Gary Cleveland.
"We have the perfect combination of public swimming pools, splash parks, water slides, lakes, rivers and creeks – so there there’s something for all ages, abilities and interests this summer", said Mayor Cleveland.
The season will kick off this weekend with the official opening of an inflatable water park at Lake Mulwala.
Council’s outdoor swimming pools in Nathalia, Numurkah, Yarrawonga Strathmerton and Cobram will open from 1 December. The Yarrawonga Water Slide will open on Saturday 3 December.
"Our natural waterways offer year round access for all sorts of activities from fishing and boating to swimming and building sandcastles. From the beauty of the Barmah Forest to the more than 120 km of natural sandy beaches we’ve got it all," said Mayor Cleveland.
Moira Shire is encouraging everyone to visit and enjoy what the region has to offer following the low water levels and blue-green algae outbreak last year.
"This year’s rainfall has eliminated the risk of another Blue Green Algae outbreak this season and has brought parks to life right across the region – from the Numurkah rose gardens to the Barmah National Park."
Mayor Cleveland urged everyone to be safe in and around water.
"Our local swimming pools offer a great option for cooling off this summer. Lifeguards are on duty and there are learn to swim programs for kids," said Mayor Cleveland.
