Planning Services

The Planning Department of the Council has the role of developing and maintaining excellence in town planning services. Under the Planning and Environment Act, Council is responsible for ensuring that land is used and developed in an environmentally, economically and socially responsible manner, to provide a sustainable future for the community.

The Department has the specific responsibilities for:

  • Strategic and Statutory Planning, including the review and assessment of planning and subdivision applications, development of local policies and planning scheme amendments.
  • Development and implementation of guidelines for development and subdivision
  • Planning Compliance
  • Planning enquiries and customer service
  • Native Vegetation
  • Liquor Licensing

Making an Appointment

Appointments are encouraged for customers wishing to make an enquiry with staff of the Planning Department and are available Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. Appointments can be made in person at the Administration Centre at 44 Station Street, Cobram or by contacting the Planning Department.
