Community Foster Care Networks
Animals that are not adopted directly from the Council Pound may be rehoused with an approved Community Foster Care Network. Foster Care Networks are not for profit organisations run by volunteers who aim at reducing the euthanasia rate by finding new homes for pound and shelter animals. Once an animal has been accepted into the program, the animal is provided with temporary care at a volunteer’s home until a permanent home can be found.
Council works with the following Community Foster Care Networks:
How you can help
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the community foster care network program. The assistance our pound animals receive through this partnership wouldn’t happen without the valuable dedicated work of its volunteers. Thank you to all of the volunteers who help Moira Shires Pound animals find a new home.
Do you wish to volunteer for a Community Foster Care Network? You can foster an animal, transport an animal, help with fundraising activities, make a donation, donate goods and equipment such as towels for pound animals’ beds or supply pound animals with treats. The tasks required are endless.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact one of the Community Foster Care Networks listed above or for more information contact the Safety and Amenity Unit on (03) 5871 9222.
