Maternal and Child Health
The Maternal & Child Health service is a universal primary health service for Victorian families with children from birth to school age. The aim of the service is to promote healthy outcomes for children and offers 10 key ages and stage visits as well as additional centre based and telephone consultations as needed by families including:
- breastfeeding and lactation advice;
- child health, growth and development;
- maternal and family health;
- parent and child relationships;
- safety and injury prevention;
- immunisation;
- family planning;
- nutrition;
- referral to specialist children's and family services;
- post natal depression;
- Sign Posts Program;
- sleeping and settling issues;
- Positive Parenting Program;
- new parent groups, play groups and parent education;
- types of Maternal & Child Health services available in Moira Shire;
- centre-based universal key age visits and additional visits are attended at your local Maternal & Child Health Centre;
- new mothers groups are also run and the centres; and
- enhanced Maternal & Child Health services.
This service provides additional support to parents as well as key age visits.
24 hour Maternal and Child Health Line
This service is staffed by maternal and child health nurses and funded through the Department of Human Services. Please call 132 229 within Victoria for the cost of a local call.
