Family Day Care

Family Day Care provides affordable and flexible high quality home based child care for children up to 12 years of age in the homes of Family Day Care Careproviders.

Who are Family Day Care Careprovider?

Family Day Care Carers are people who:

  • Provide a safe and secure child care service in their own home.
  • Offer a close relationship with the child and his or her parents.
  • Are recruited, trained and monitored by the co-ordination unit.
  • Have to access to training to develop their skills and knowledge of children and child care practices.
  • Represent the cultural diversity which exists within the community.

Who can use Family Day Care?

Family Day Care is available to any parent who needs reliable, quality child care for their children, such as:

  • Parents who are working,
  • Looking for work or studying,
  • Parents of children with special needs,
  • Parents with special needs,
  • Parents needing time for appointments or for respite care.

Who chooses the care provider for your child?

The final choice of care provider remains with you.
Each Family Day Care Care provider has something different to offer and scheme staff where possible match this with the need of each parent and child.

What hours of care are provided?

In Family Day Care, the hours of care are flexible and can be matched to your family's needs.  Family Day Care may be available on weekends or overnight if needed.
Types of care provided include:

  • full-time care
  • part-time care
  • casual care
  • care for children of shift workers
  • before/after school care
  • vacation care.

Standard Hours 8.00am—6.00pm Monday to Friday  

How much does care cost?

Each care provider is able to independently set their fees for the service provided, please ask each care provider for a copy of their fees. Childcare fees are eligible for Child Care Benefit (CCB). The amount of rebate provided is based on a gross income assessment by the Family Assistance Office Ph.136 150.

What will my children do in Family Day Care?

In Family Day Care, your children will learn through play and exploration while socialising with a small group of children. They will participate in activities that have been planned to suit each child's individual needs, according to their ability and interests. Examples of activities include story telling, singing, playing games, visiting the park or the library. They will also develop confidence in larger groups of children through supervised play sessions and other special activities.

Moira Family Day Care is the most flexible, affordable, professional care alternative for your child and covers the areas in Moira Shire including Cobram, Katamatite, Nathalia, Numurkah and Yarrawonga and also extends to Barooga (Berrigan Shire) and Mulwala (Corowa Shire).
