National Year of Reading
Welcome to the 2012 National Year of Reading.
Each month, a new Love2read theme will be publicised; this month’s theme is Get Caught Laughing.
What kind of reading makes you laugh? Do you like black humour, comedy, joke books, satire or parody? Are you giggling, chuckling, snuffling a laugh or laughing out loud?
Every month during 2012, local libraries will present a different experience through literature. Some months they will move your emotions and other months they will inspire you.
Visit your local library and tempt yourself with the great selection of books and enjoy the reading journey.
Each month, readers will be asked to share what they are reading that makes them laugh and send their suggestions to annet@gvrlc.vic.gov.au.
Also, look out for reading ideas at the Goulburn Valley Regional Library Corporation website at http://swft.gvrl.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/gvrl. Your ideas and suggestions will put you in the draw to win a monthly book voucher.
Get Caught Reading
As part of the 2012 National Year of Reading, the GVRLC is very excited to have developed a year-long program for everyone to join in.
The theme is Get Caught Reading - a digital photo contest - and kids and adults are invited to enter by capturing digital photos of readers caught reading.
Entries must be emailed to annet@gvrlc.vic.gov.au by 1 December 2012.
The competition is FREE to enter.
There will be monthly prizes and an awards ceremony at the end of the year.
Images will be available to be viewed online at the GVRLC website and local libraries will offer a voting facility so the public can vote for their favourite captured image.
There will also be voter prizes.
