Disability Action Plan
The Victorian Disability Act 2006 requires all public sector bodies to have a Disability Action Plan. These documents are used to identify, reduce and remove barriers experienced by people with a disability.
Moira Shire Council is currently seeking community feedback on its draft 2017-2021 Disability Access and Inclusion Action Plan.
The draft Plan was developed with guidance from Council’s Disability Advisory Committee and community feedback and surveys.
Suggested actions in the draft Plan include improving accessible car parking at key community service sites, improving pedestrian and cycling infrastructure to support use by people with impaired mobility, upgrading public toilets to be wheelchair accessible and active promotion of inclusiveness and participation of people with a disability, in activities, events and festivals held in Moira Shire.
Copies of the plan are available at Council’s at the Cobram or Yarrawonga Customer Service Centres or by email email@example.com.
