Tourism is booming in Moira.

Inclusive of the rivers Murray, Ovens and Goulburn, and Lake Mulwala - and blessed with copious amounts of sunshine during all seasons – the Moira Shire region is affectionately known as Sun Country on the Murray. Whatever it is you like to do, you will find an attraction or activity to suit. Golf, water sports, adventure, fun, relaxing, art, fine food and wine and nature at it’s best - it’s all here just waiting to be discovered and explored, making it one of the best year-round holiday destinations in Australia.

While its reputation for outstanding recreational facilities is well-established, and the region is known as a water-sport destination, Moira Shire’s agriculture and eco-tourism opportunities are yet to be fully realised.

The burgeoning farm gate market builds on the region’s reputation for producing quality food and beverage, while related services, including accommodation, restaurants, festivals, markets and conference facilities, are also growth areas.

The recently announced establishment of national parks in the region to protect its iconic red gums, internationally recognised wetlands and Aboriginal heritage sites, opened up eco-tourism opportunities. These activities include river and bushland tours, ballooning and charter flights, adventure-based activities, eco-friendly accommodation operations and indigenous cultural experiences.
